EDs OFFICE WINS KCCA STAFF LEAGUE TITLE
PUBLISHED — 21st, June 2025The Philip Omondi Stadium was lit with cheers, music, and celebration on the evening of Friday, June 20, as the Executive Director’s Office team triumphed over the KCCA FC Staff in a gripping 3-2 final to clinch the 2024/2025 KCCA Staff League championship title.
In a game that drew a vibrant crowd and embodied the spirit of camaraderie, teamwork, and sportsmanship, the ED’s Office team proved relentless in the first half, netting three early goals.
A beautifully taken strike by Simon Karugaba in the 12th minute opened the scoring, setting the tone for what would become a dominant first half.
The ED’s Office team rode on that momentum, with Marvin Mayanja stealing the spotlight. Energetic, agile, and composed, Marvin netted a brilliant brace in the 20th and 27th minutes, giving his side a commanding 3-0 lead and leaving the crowd in awe of their attacking prowess.
However, the tide began to turn in the second half. Just ten minutes in, KCCA FC Staff responded with a well-taken free kick by Habib Kavuma, narrowing the deficit.
The momentum shifted, in the 75th minute of the match, when Swaibu Kato headed in a goal from a corner kick, bringing the score to 3-2.
A near miss from Marvin, whose shot rattled the post, could have sealed the game earlier, but the ED’s Office had to dig deep to hold on as KCCA FC Staff mounted pressure in the final minutes.
The electric atmosphere was amplified by the presence of the KCCA Executive Director, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, and her Deputy, Benon Kigenyi, who both attended the match and cheered passionately from the sidelines.
Also in attendance were the Director for Education and Social Services Charles Maginot, Director for Physical Planning Vincent Biribonwa, Director for Gender, Production and Community Services Sheila Birungi Gandi, Deputy Director for ICT Monica Nyakaisiki, and Deputy Director for Public and Corporate Affairs Daniel NuweAbine.
“Sports is not just about competition. It’s about wellness, unity, and networking. We are committed to promoting work-life balance and building healthy bodies so that we return to work refreshed and energized,” Buzeki said during the post-match celebration. “I want to thank all the teams, the Directorate of Education, and our political wing for participating and showing that we are truly one KCCA family.”
The final whistle marked not just a win for the ED’s Office team, but also a celebration of community and staff engagement. Fans and staff were treated to an evening of nyama choma, music, drinks, and joy a perfect cap to an exciting day of football and unity.
The individual accolades added color to the festivities. Marvin Mayanja, with his brace and commanding presence, was named Most Valuable Player (Male), while Arinanye Charlotte was recognized as the MVP (Female). Ambrose Lubega of the Directorate of Public Health emerged as the league’s top scorer with an impressive 8 goals.
The Best Goalkeeper award went to Abdu Hakim Nsubuga from the ED’s Office, while the Physical Planning team was awarded the “Most Entertaining Team.”
This year’s KCCA Staff League proved that the heart of the Authority beats not just in offices and boardrooms, but also on the field where teamwork, discipline, and community spirit shine just as brightly.
As the lights dimmed at Philip Omondi Stadium, it was clear this wasn’t just a football game. It was a statement that KCCA is a team, both at work and at play.
