Victoria University has applauded the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) for its continued commitment to supporting student internship and skills development programs that prepare young people for the world of work.

During a courtesy visit to KCCA headquarters on Wednesday, Dr. Shamim K. Matovu, the Director of Cooperative Education, Career and Workplace Partnerships at Victoria University, commended the Authority for providing a practical learning environment for students through internship placements.

“Over time, KCCA has housed our students as interns so that they can gain hands-on experience. Skills development and cooperative education are very important, and we are grateful for what you have done for the city,” Dr. Matovu said.

She noted that KCCA’s support has helped students understand how government institutions operate, enabling them to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings.

As a gesture of appreciation, the Victoria University team presented a Certificate of Appreciation to KCCA Executive Director Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki for her institution’s continuous partnership in promoting skills training and professional exposure.

“When you have such a good experience with a good neighbor, you have to appreciate. We believe this relationship will continue to grow stronger. We also want to be part of KCCA’s corporate social responsibility activities,” Dr. Matovu added.

In her remarks, Hajjat Buzeki expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed KCCA’s commitment to mentorship and youth empowerment through apprenticeship and internship programs.

“As an institution, we treasure the issue of apprenticeship and mentorship. We are open to all and do not discriminate against any students when it comes to placement opportunities,” Hajjat Buzeki said.

She emphasized the importance of partnerships between government entities and educational institutions in addressing the city’s development needs.

“As government, we may not have all the resources to meet every need in the city. That’s why we value partnerships like this one, working together helps us build a better Kampala for everyone,” she noted.

The collaboration between KCCA and Victoria University aligns with the Authority’s broader goal of empowering youth through practical learning, innovation, and community engagement.
