The Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry Uganda (ICCIU) has officially joined the Kampala City Festival 2025 as a Gold Sponsor, handing over a cheque worth UGX 75 million to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

The sponsorship was unveiled during an event held today, at the City Hall attended by key leaders from both institutions. The Kampala City Festival 2025 will take place on October 5 at the Kololo Independence Grounds, under the theme,Celebrating Kampala: Culture, Innovation, and Sustainability.”

This year’s festival will feature a brand-new Halal Village a space where Halal businesses, culture, food, and innovation will shine. For the first time, Muslims will fully participate in the city’s biggest event, making the festival truly inclusive.

Nooh Muhammad Mayambala, President of the ICCU, hailed the development as historic, noting that previous city festivals left many Muslims feeling excluded.

“This time, Muslims will actively participate through the Halal Village. We are making the festival more inclusive, more Halal, and this is an opportunity to promote wanainchi and the wider Kampala community. This marks a continuity of our cooperation with KCCA,” Mayambala said.

Senior Presidential Advisor on Islamic Affairs, Sarah Kanyike, pledged to mobilise Muslims and other city dwellers across the city to participate in the festival.

“This is a festival for all people of Kampala. As leaders, it is upon us to mobilise our communities. The success of this festival will also be my success because it will mean that I have contributed a stone to its foundation,” she noted.

KCCA Executive Director, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, welcomed the Islamic Chamber’s support, describing them as the first confirmed sponsors of this year’s festival.

“You have stood with us on this journey of developing Kampala. As Gold Sponsors, you are entitled to use the festival logo, enjoy co-branding rights, sell products, and gain significant visibility during the event,” Buzeki said.

Deputy Executive Director, Benon Kigenyi, reminded the public that the festival is just 33 days away and praised the Islamic Chamber for leading the way with their sponsorship.

The Islamic Chamber’s Secretary General, Erias Kitonya, Kampala City Festival organizing committee chairperson Shiela Birungi and her Vice, Monica Nyakaisiki also attended the event.
